Tanya Michelle Brownsugar Smith

Born and raised in Toronto, Tanya Michelle Smith discovered singing at the age of seven within choirs and musicals. Her talent earned her a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she shone as lead vocalist of jazz and gospel ensembles. A versatile voice, she moves from sensual vocal jazz to the most vibrant soul R&B, nourished by Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. Her career has taken her across Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia, all the way to the final of the French televised singing competition “The Sing Off 100% Vocal.” With her album The Experience and her many international collaborations, she brings a warm, soulful vocal presence to any house night.
